En classe: 20 septembre 2017

Bonjour, bonjour!

    • p. 337 (boire, devoir, recevoir)
Le voici le calendrier à venir!
27 Sept - Study Hall (optional homework help, no formal instruction)
4 Oct - Quiz Vocabulaire, La Grammaire Ch. 10
11 Oct - Study Hall
18 Oct - L'examen Ch. 10, Vocabulaire Ch. 11
25 Oct - Study Hall
1 Nov - Quiz Vocabulaire, La Grammaire Ch. 11

En Classe: 15 mars 2017

En classe:

  • Q&A
  • Nous avons révisé la vocabulaire pour le chapitre sept!
  • Les poupées en carton - on les habille!
Les devoirs:
  • Sentences using vocabulary, questions
  • Learn mettre and practice it
  • Learn comparitive words (le comparatif des adjectifs)
  • Watch the videos below!  Write down any vocab you haven't learned  yet.  :)

METTRE!  Please go through this and learn some of the phrases you need mettre for. Don't worry about the "passé composé" information at 1:30 - 2:00 or so.  Also, ignore the whole "reflexive verb" thing for now.  We'll be learning it soon!  You can stop watching when they talk about "se mettre à faire les devoirs." :)

This is just cute!

How much of this do you understand?

This is really a handy video- not entertaining, but she pronounces things well... and it includes COLORS in the clothing descriptions!

ADORABLE!

En Classe: 8 mars 2017

We've missed a few of these as we've done a few more simple classes!  Do you love Petit Nicholas??

Let's get back into the groove with Chapitre Sept!

En Classe!

  • Nous avons fini avec la lecture, Le Petit Nicholas
  • Avec le temps extra, nous avons lu La Lecture Supplémentaire tout ensemble.
Les Devoirs!
  • If we don't finish Lecture Supplémentaire in class, please finish answering the questions to both readings at home.
  • Questions de Vocabulaire. These are a handful of sentences from the book I use to help you write out sentences, to think about Chapitre Six Vocabulaire, and to review verbs.  It should be pretty easy!!
  • Faire, Pouvoir, Vouloir.  Again, it's a review!  It should be very easy!  If it's NOT easy to do, without help, you need to take some time and really study.  These verbs are super important.  :)
  • Chapitre Sept Vocabulaire.  Translate the vocabulary for Chapitre Sept, comme d'habitude.  :)  Be ready and comfortable with the different articles of clothing for next week, especially.
  • Les Couleurs packet.  It has colors and articles of clothing that the book doesn't necessarily cover.  :)
If you need help with verbs, try these videos!

It's cheesy, but here's a FAIRE song:

Another cheesy video for avoir; être; faire; aller:

I LOVE this one!!!

Pretty sure you NEED to watch this ALLER video:

For colors, this is cute... I'm going to use this with my cute French Ia students!

Oh, but we're not through!!
POUVOIR!!
VOUS POUVEZ REGARDER CET VIDÉO!

VOULOIR!  Vous êtes chanseuses!

Les couleurs, vous demandez?  On les a!!

En Classe: 12 octobre 2016

Well, hello, my peeps!  :)

Today, we're going to:

  • Turn in homework, go over questions
  • Review aloud: Numbers (0-60), Alphabet
  • Go over avoir!  :)
  • Look at POSSESSIVES!
  • Go over vocabulary (using the fortune tellers- they look great!!)
Homework!
  • Review information from class today- especially avoir and vocabulaire.
  • La famille.  You know the routine- if you want to go the creative route, color, cut, paste!  Either way, please make sure you write in the translation for the word French --> English.  Page 24, please try to fill in the French word from memory- correct your own work from the previous pages!
  • Write five unique sentences using avoir + other vocabulaire from previous chapitres.
  • Possessives worksheet.  The answer key is attached, so self-correct.  Feel free to be creative and color/cut/paste the sentences with images into your cahiers.  :)
  • Crossword- practice with Les matières!  :)  This should help you with two things... first, pay attention if the word is masculine or feminine... and then make sure you're focused on spelling!

En Classe: 5 octobre

Look, WINSTON!  All in English, just for you!!  :D

GIRLS!  I'm sure you did this, but a reminder to bring back the COOTIE CATCHERS!  :)  If we have time after the (spoiler alert) test, checking the test, we'll start to play with vocabulary as a class.  :)  We'll also attempt to make a verbal SENTENCE as we go.  ;)

This week, we are testing.  :)  Basically, the best thing you could do is study everything in your cahiers.  It will help if you take some time to write sentences with verbs.  Remember that I said that NUMBERS are not studied enough!

After today's test, we're MOVING ON!  :)  Chapitre Quatre is around the corner and waiting!  We're going to jump right in with HOMEWORK!  :)

  • "La maison" packet.  Go through and translate what the item is.  Color, if desired (Darcy!), and either cut'n'paste (Darcy!) the graphic, name, translation into your cahier, or slap some glue on and fold it in half into your cahier (Winston!).  :)  In the drawing section, you can do your OWN drawing, you can SKIP the drawing, or you can find some clipart to glue in... But you DO need to for sure do the translations...  without looking, if possible!
  • "AVOIR!"  Here's what to fill in:

    Avoir = to have
    j'AI
    tu AS
    il, elle, on A
    nous AVONS
    vous AVEZ
    ils, elles ONT
  • I am GIVING YOU your ENTIRE Chapitre Quatre Vocabulaire sheet!  It's getting real, guys! :)  Please do all of the translations for: Identifying the rooms of a house, Talking about a home and the neighborhood, and Other useful words and expressions.  We're breaking this huge list in half, and we'll hit Identifying family members and Talking about family affairs or events next week.  If you can help yourself, refrain from jumping ahead!  But I do understand and empathize with a good compulsion, so if you have to, you have to.  :)
That's it!  Your task has been set before you!  Do good work, my intrepid poulets!

En Classe: 28 septembre 2016

Bon matin, mes étudiants!  :D

Au jour'd hui, nous allons:

  • répondre aux questions hebdomadaire; vérifier les devoirs en même temps

  • PARLER!  Nous allons utiliser les profils au cahier pour donner les descriptions.
Les Devoirs Pour La Semaine à Venir!
  • Weeee shallll seeeee!  If it went well during class, we'll move along to Chapitre Quatre!  If it was shaky (which is TOTALLY fine, and I hope you know I mean that!!), we'll have une grosse examen next week, and your whole week, you'll be submersed in studying like mad people.  :)
    • If a test - just practice!  Go through all of les sites-webs and study, look through your cahier and study!
    • If not a test: Ch. 4 vocabulaire
    • AVOIR peekaboo (to do at home)
    • Worksheets for rooms of a house

Saturday, September 17, 2016

En Classe: 21 Septembre 2016

Au jour'd hui, nous allons:

  • discuter les questions au commencement.  (You'll also be turning in completed homework.)
  • manger!
  • parler de la culture française.  Vous devriez avoir des commentaires de l'article que vous aviez pour les devoirs.
  • I will be giving you a sheet on oft-used -ER verbs to look at!  This is NOT homework, but it's a handy chart of words that follow the -ER conjugation.  It's super useful!!  You'll find that we will naturally add some of these words as we go along.
Pour les devoirs, nous allons faire de la revue!  Because of this, it will be kind of a big week.  If you KNOW this stuff... like REALLY KNOW this stuff... you can skip the pieces you want to.  But if you need practice, this is the week to get there.
  • Les nombres!  I started at :40, but you can choose to back up to the beginning for a longer explanation.
  • Why Study French?
  • Colors.  Play this game- get good at some basic colors.  :)
  • Introductions in French.  Watch and practice repeating the way they introduce themselves.  :)  I think this will help build confidence when practicing in class!
  • Dates in French.  Listen, and come ready to give me YOUR birthday on Wednesday!
  • Dates in French. More practice.
  • Descriptions.  This is basic, and short.
  • More Descriptions.  This is specifically for describing people!
  • School Items with Alexa, PART ONE and PART TWO.  This is for practicing Vocabulaire from Chapitre Trois.  :)
  • Page Two of the Colors worksheet... Color "Les couleurs" four images and paste the images into your cahier.  For items 1-11, write the proper color on the line.  You'll be turning this in to me!  :)
  • Les Mois worksheet.  You can use this worksheet how you will... whatever helps you remember the months of the year.
  • French Cognates!  Cognates are words in one language that look similar to words in a second language.  Like garage... Garage is the same in English and in French!  :)  (worksheet)
La prochaine fois, on espère à:
  • Q&A.  Gather your questions!
  • We will practice numbers 1-100.  I want to spend a little bit of time on this to make sure you all understand numbers.  :)
  • We will BRIEFLY practice the months of the year, days of the week together.
  • We will open the images you pasted into your cahiers and we will do as much SPEAKING IN FRENCH as possible!  As we DISCUSS, I will write down key phrases for you to put into your cahiers beneath the images.  You will need to be prepared by 1) studying all of your description words in your cahiers, by 2) watching the descriptions, more descriptions videos, and by 3) taking some time to attempt complete sentence descriptions on your own.  I want you to feel reasonably confident that you can pull these words out of your memory banks!!  This is a "Choose Your Own Adventure" type of activity... if you do well, we'll do a one activity; if you struggle, we'll keep working on adjectives and probably have a TEST on adjectives to motivate you!  :)  This graded test will be given to your mothers!  :)  If you want to avoid a test, the choice is yours, lol!
So you know, my intention for the next few weeks is:
  • If we move on, we'll practice school vocabulary and descriptions for another week, verbally.  I'm looking for a GAME for this- hopefully I'll find one, or have time to MAKE one!
  • We'll move on to Chapitre Quatre!  I'll give you a vocab sheet to study at home, and then we'll practice more vocab IN CLASS, using fortune tellers (it'll be so fun!)  We'll be studying HOME stuff... vocabulary to describe a house, the stuff/rooms in it.  :)  We'll also talk about FAMILY relationships.  We'll attempt to incorporate previous chapiters in studying chapiter four... so you can see why it would be important to review!
  • The girls were asking about movies to watch in French... I was thinking it could be fun to rent a movie that we'll watch together... thoughts on this??  I will pay for the rental (it's a "supplies fee" thing, lol) and popcorn, but we should def do treats!
